On Wednesday, May 18, a Mosmetrostroy delegation consisting of Chairman of the Council of Veterans Boris Prigoda and Deputy Director of the KSUM Pavel Kalinin laid flowers at the memorial obelisk dedicated to the Heroes of the Soviet Union - the legendary members of the Metrostroy Aeroclub.
The obelisk was installed in 1971, 40 kilometers from Moscow, near the building of a secondary school in the village of Malye Vyazemy, Odintsovo district.
The following is carved on a granite slab: “Here, in Malyye Vyazemy, in the pre-war years there was a Metrostroy flying club. In the five years preceding the start of the Great Patriotic War, the Metrostroy flying club trained hundreds of pilots and 4,000 paratroopers. From here, in 1941, many went to the front. For valor and courage shown in the battles for the Motherland, thirty-six students of the Metrostroy flying club were awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union.
