A delegation consisting of General Director of Mosmetrostroy JSC Sergey Zhukov, his deputies Mikhail Arbuzov, Mikhail Belenkiy, Gordey Perervenko, General Director of MMS International LLC Denis Chumachenko and Chief Engineer of MMS International LLC Igor Smirnov visited the facility in Primorye.
Here, metro builders, within the framework of a joint project with Russian Railways, launched a large-scale construction of a bypass of the Shkotovo-Smolyaninovo section in order to expand the capacity of the Far Eastern Railway.
Since the end of spring 2021, MMS International specialists have mastered construction sites, built access roads, removed communications from the future construction zone. Temporary technical structures were also erected and temporary engineering networks were laid.
Ahead is the construction of an electrified double-track railway bypass with two single-track tunnels and two new bridges across the Shkotovka River and related infrastructure. The total length of the bypass construction site will exceed 7.5 thousand running meters.
“Construction of the bypass will make it possible to reduce the longitudinal slope of the track on the section from 24‰ to 9‰, thereby eliminating the push section, unifying the traction rolling stock of the Shkotovo – Smolyaninovo section of the Far Eastern Railway,” said Sergey Zhukov, General Director of JSC Mosmetrostroy.
To date, pits have already been prepared in the areas of the open method of constructing tunnels. Mining will be carried out from two sides - simultaneously from the western and eastern portals along four faces. The necessary machinery and equipment have already been delivered from Moscow and Serbia.
The route of future tunnels lies in unstable flooded soils. To ensure trouble-free penetration, it was decided to use special fasteners from screens and pipes in order to achieve stabilization of the rock during penetration.
Construction is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2024.
