On January 23, 2023, President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin signed a decree establishing Metro Builder Day. It will be celebrated annually on October 2 - the birthday of the Moscow Metrostroy. This holiday became the best gift for thousands of metro builders.
General Director of JSC Mosmetrostroy Sergei Zhukov noted that the company was founded in 1931.
“The first line of the capital’s metro was built by the organization’s specialists in record time and put into operation on May 15, 1935. Over 92 years, the Mosmetrostroy team has built and reconstructed 199 metro stations, laid more than 600 km of tunnels, and constructed 30 km of road junctions and highways. For outstanding services to the Fatherland, the organization was awarded four orders: Lenin, October Revolution, Red Banner of Labor and Friendship of Peoples,” said Sergei Zhukov.
